Summary

Jonathan Keller recently faced an unimaginable loss and is now trying to put his life back together, and chew through the anger and distrust he currently feels towards Starfleet and his colleagues.

Appearance

Jonathan never smiles. He used to smile, and he used to be happy, but whoever meets him now is greeted with a scowl of disdain.

His profession shows in his physique. He is muscular and athletic, perhaps even more so than is expected of a security officer.

Personality

Jonathan Keller’s life was turned upside down when his wife Ricarda was killed during a mission on the USS Cupertino, leaving him to raise their two children alone. He used to be outgoing and charming, but turned into someone who avoids others and is quick to anger.

History

Keller’s story is a love story with a tragic end and a complicated aftermath.

After graduating from Starfleet Academy and distinguishing himself as an excellent security officer, he was invited to join one of the specialised Hazard Teams – a position in which he thrived. He climbed the ranks and attained a leadership position, but when he met his future wife Ricarda – a fellow officer in the same team – his focus shifted.

The relationship was difficult, and certainly had its ups and down. Ups when the two of them were together, downs when others made up their mind about them before giving them the opportunity to prove that they could remain professional.

When Ricarda got pregnant, they decided to retire from the hazard teams. Through a twist of faith however, Ricarda was assigned to the USS Cupertino while Jonathan was assigned to the USS Callisto. Committed to make the temporary long-distance situation work, both remained in close contact. Their two boys stayed with Jonathan since the Callisto offered more accommodations for families.

When Ricarda was killed during a mission, Jonathan’s world came crashing down. Suddenly truly a single father, he is currently trying to settle into the new normal.

Mission: Journeys End in Lovers Meeting

Keller joins Captain Ceix, Sydin and Brennan on Liraxa IV, where the Callisto is sent to help resolve an ancient conflict between the two dominant tribes, grounded in the fact that the two telepathic factions are not able to communicate between each other.
Together with several Liraxan scholar’s, they discover an artefact that has once created a telepathic field that allowed communication, but the artefact gets destroyed before it can be restored. Keller interrogates the scholars and uncovers a political and financial reason behind the sabotage.
When a solution to the Liraxan’s plight is found regardless of the destroyed artefact, the Liraxan leaders reject it and no longer want Starfleet to interfere with internal affairs.

Keller, disappointed in the outcome seeks solace in a substance that lets him access happier memories, through which he is able to reconnect with his deceased wife.
