History: Maxine Dainshire was the first child born in 2354 on Mars. She grew up watching the news clips announcing her birth, feeling sorry that her mother had to miss out on New Year’s parties by shoving Maxine out of her hoohah. But Maxine was grateful. She grew up in the Quayle Canals Northeast in the Utopia Planitia Gardens, among theoretical physicists from the Daystrom Institute; engineers from Starfleet; officials and diplomats of the Mars government; and a small circle of artists, writers, dancers, and poets from her mother’s acquaintances.

| History: | Maxine Dainshire was the first child born in 2354 on Mars. She grew up watching the news clips announcing her birth, feeling sorry that her mother had to miss out on New Year’s parties by shoving Maxine out of her hoohah. But Maxine was grateful. She grew up in the Quayle Canals Northeast in the Utopia Planitia Gardens, among theoretical physicists from the Daystrom Institute; engineers from Starfleet; officials and diplomats of the Mars government; and a small circle of artists, writers, dancers, and poets from her mother’s acquaintances. They were usually the husbands and wives of the above-mentioned physicists, engineers, and officials. Opposites attracted, it seemed to Maxine.When it came time for her to choose where to go to college, she chose Starfleet Academy. The decision disappointed her mother, who wanted her to attend Iowa State University and study creative writing. But her mother supported her nevertheless, and off she went. After graduation, she was assigned to the USS Hirshorn, a Constitution class cruiser patrolling the Cardassian border, based out of Starbase 310. She dealt with and negotiated with agents, merchants, diplomats, Starfleet officers, and tailors in her mission to help quell the varied and rising tides in the aftermath of the Dominion War.
Her ministrations, however, led her to make a career mistake—having an affair with a Cardassian military officer. The affair had been brief, lasting only 2 weeks, but it was enough for Starfleet to pull her from the Hirshorn and place her on a science research ship, the USS Nova, as a reminder of her declared loyalties. She spent 3 years there, then asked for a transfer to Starbase 10 near Romulan space. Then, tiring of being in the thick of cold war conflicts and their vagaries, she requested a transfer to an exploratory ship, the USS Diligent. Maxine is passionate, a quick study, and possesses an outlook of ‘by any means necessary’ to complete her mission. She is detail-oriented, and can appreciate both sides of an argument. |
