Underspace Hours 1 and 2

Alpha/Gamma Quadrant.
240106.14

Stardate 240106.14 – Time Index 1400 hours – The start of something new.

It’s been nearly 3 weeks since the crew of the USS Gilroy has been home from the Delta Quadrant and in that time they have had a few missions to settle themself back into the way of the Alpha Quadrant. The Gilroy is en route to Starbase 310 and resupply to drop off equipment on the planet Tagra IV and provide replacement parts to the barystatic filters. Even though Amanda Rogers, the female Q, fixed these filters in 2369. The Tagrans decided to keep their barystatic filters running, though they no longer needed them.

“Helm Estimated time to Starbase 310,” asked Commander Danvers.

A few seconds passed and Ensign Pemberton replied, “We will arrive within the next hour, commander, at our current speed of warp 4”

“Thank you helm increase our speed by a factor of one, please,” replied the commander

And with that, you hear the ensign hitting buttons on the console to increase their speed and replies, “Speed increased. We will be there in 15 mins now at our new speed”. Said Ensign Pemberton.

“Upon arriving, put the station on the viewscreen and reduce us to one-half impulse,” said the commander. And with that, the commander sat back in her chair and waited for the Starbase to appear on the screen.

Moments later the Starbase appeared on the viewscreen like the commander had asked as it had come into scanner range. But then, as the commander had said, the ship reduced its speed to a one-half impulse.

“Commander, the Starbase has requested us to dock at upper pylon 4 as soon as possible, as they are ready to start transporting the equipment and supplies on board,” said Lieutenant Hill. And with that, the commander turned to look at him and nodded. Sitting back in the command chair, she said,

“Helm take us to Upper Pylon 4 then and Mr Hill inform the relevant departments that we will be docking in a minute and prepare to take on board the supplies. I want to be underway within the hour.” Replied Commander Danvers

And with that, the ensign and the lieutenant replied, “Yes, Commander,” simultaneously. “Mr Hill, you have the bridge.” With that, the Danvers got up and headed to the captain’s ready room to inform him of what was happening.

Half an hour had soon passed and both the commander and the captain were back on the bridge when they received a hail from the commander of the station

“Captain, we have an incoming message from the station commander,” said Lieutenant Hill. And with that, the Lieutenant put the call on the screen.

“Captain, I have just been informed by Starfleet via a Priority One message that Starbases all over the quadrant are picking up Subspace apertures opening up all over the Alpha and Beta quadrants. Our sensors are picking one up to 5.6 light years away. We have dispatched ships to the locations where the detected openings are located, but we are uncertain whether it is the Borg or something else causing them. As you are the closest starship, I need you to stop collecting the supplies and head to the location now.” with that the View screen went back to an image of space not giving the captain or any of his senior crew a chance to react to the information.

“Well, you heard what the commander said. Lieutenant Hill inform all departments that we are stopping the supply transports and to secure everything for immediate departure. Ensign Pemberton. Do you have the coordinates of the subspace apertures?” asked the captain.

“Yes, captain laid in and ready to engage as soon as we clear the Starbase.” Moments later, the USS Gilroy left Starbase 310 and was en route to the set of coordinates provided by the commander of the Starbase.

“Ensign how long till we arrive at the subspace aperture?” asked the commander.

“We will arrive in 10 minutes, commander,” replied the young ensign.

Those 10 minutes felt like 20 minutes getting there, for the young Lieutenant Junior Grade Batootil as he sat there looking between his console, the viewscreen and Ensign Pemberton. They finally arrived at the coordinates, but at first glance at the sensors, there was nothing out of the ordinary.

“Helm keep the ship 2000 meters from the coordinates just in case whatever we here for happens again,” said Commander Danvers. With that, the ensign moved the ship to 2000 meters from the coordinates. Well, at first glance, like the sensors were displaying, there was nothing out of order, just space out there, no tachyon particles or anything like that on the sensors to indicate any kind of transwarp corridor. Just as the captain was about to inform Mr Hill to contact Starbase 310, the sensors started picking up strange readings and, out of nowhere, the ship started to shake as if it was being spun out of control. But before anyone could inform the Helm to reverse engines or inform Mr Hill to send a message to the starbase to inform them they had encountered the anomaly, the Gilroy was pulled into the Under-space Corridor.

– – – – – – – – – –

Time Index 1500 hours – What just happened? Where are we now?

What seemed like a while since this whole mess started had only been seconds since the Gilroy had stopped shaking and the ship was not where it began. Everyone on the bridge, probably on the ship, was picking themselves off the floor once the senior crew had finally grasped what had happened and returned to their feet and stations.

Captain Telkir tapped his comb’s button on his chair, opening a channel to the entire ship “Department heads report in, senior crew to your stations” and then pushed the same button to close the channel. Moments later Lieutenant Commander Sharpe appeared on the bridge doing up her uniform and with that Lieutenant Hill took a position at the back of the bridge, staying ready to offer any advice if the captain was to ask or call all senior crew to the conference room enabling him to just resume his post at the tactical station.

“That was quick Lt Commander,” said Hill. In reply the Lt Commander said “I was already on my way here when I noticed that we had left the Starbase earlier than was meant to, so I took the hunch there was a problem and made my way here, and it’s a good thing I did.” replied the Lt commander.

Taking her station, she then turned her attention to the viewscreen and said “Captain, commander what have we got ourselves into now”

“We have no idea. We were told to come to these coordinates and then this happened, so now you are all caught up,” explained Danvers.

“Viewscreen on” asked Telkir.

And with that, the Lt commander put the viewscreen on. Everyone was amazed by what they saw. It was like a transwarp conduit that the Borg used but it was of different colours it was more brown and beige design to the multi-blue and white design from the Borg conduits and a lot smaller and looked more violent than the calm ones of the Borg. looking around on the viewscreen there was loads of debris from destroyed ships. Moments after being in the conduit, the proximity alarm started going.

With that, you could see Debri floating towards the ship from different directions, almost surrounding the ship not leaving much room to escape.

“Helm get us out of here now before we start getting bombarded and our shields take a big hit” said Danvers. And with that, the helmsman engaged the impulse engines to the maximum to get them out of the way before they were truly hit.

But what no one knew was that moving themself into the centre of the conduit would bring whole new cattle of problems to deal with. Once the Gilroy made it into the centre of the conduit, they were pulled into a higher rate of velocity. Something they didn’t realise until the helmsman tried to disengage the engines.

“Captain, the engines won’t disengage and our speed has increased past full impulse reaching warp one, now warp two.” And with that, the young Lt Jr Grade Batootil stationed at the Operations station spoke up hoping that he didn’t get a look at for butting in with Ensign Pemberton talking and said “Sir we have been pulled into some kind of slipstream like if we were being tractor beamed to a location.”

And with that Ensign Pemberton started talking again saying “We levelled out at warp 7.5 captain on a heading of 683-mark-41 but due to the interference from the conduit and all the debris in here I can’t tell you where we will end out being till we get there but from what I can tell it won’t take us long till we get there.”

10 minutes later, the Gilroy started to slow down and somehow they were kicked out of this different kind of trans warp conduit back into normal space. With that, the captain sat back in his chair and said “Report” With that, the Ensign at help replied “If I’m reading this right captain we are doing a USS Voyager as we travelled over 70,000 light years from our last known coordinates and are now in the Gamma quadrant. Further than any ship has been since we started exploring that part of space.” And with that, the Ensign turned to the captain with a worrying look on her face.

With that, the captain said in reply, “I want any information ready for a debrief in the conference room in half an hour. And Ensign, confirm your findings and join us in the conference room” With that the captain got off his seat and made his way to the conference room to contemplate what had happened and how they got there so quickly.

Half an hour soon came around and the senior crew and the young Ensign Pemberton made their way to the conference room. With everyone taking their place at the table and the young Ensign never having been told to join them at the senior briefings not too sure where to sit and seeing this in her face the nice but charming Lieutenant Commander Carlos Ramsey smiled and invited the young Ensign to sit in the seat next to him.

“So what’s going on? Can anyone tell me what’s happened and how we got this far from Federation space and our last known coordinates?” asked Telkir, looking around at everyone at the table.

Eager to impress the captain, the young Ensign quickly said, “Well captain my readings were correct. We are 70,000 light years from home and we are in the Gamma Quadrant. I can also say that we got here not via a transwarp conduit that we were all thinking of in the first place but actually in something called UNDERSPACE. It’s been seen before by the crew of the USS Voyager when they were travelling home from the Delta Quadrant sir.” looking very surprised on his face to hear the young Ensign speak first he sat there and just simply said “Continue Ensign” and with that, the young ensign got up from her seat and made her way over to the computer screen on the wall to the right of the senior crew and tapped a few buttons.

As you can see from the brief reports I have found in the database from the senior crew of Voyager and the scans they took while in this Under-space, it is a fast network of tunnels much like those used by the Borg in their Trans-warp conduits. But due to the way, these conduits are natural and not man or machine-built they coexist with space but on a whole different level. They form what I understand live on the underside of space in a different dimension of space and time. But I’m only going by what I have learned from the records of the senior crew on board Voyager and what the Vaadwaur told them. They used the under-space conduits to travel fast distances in a blink of an eye. It was later found out by the crew of Voyager the under-space was used as a way for the Vaadwaur to attack other races in the Delta Quadrant and get away in the blink of an eye.

And with that, the young ensign turned off the screen and made her way to her seat, continuing her report. “Captain Janeway and the crew had no idea how they got into the Under-space or how to get back in. All they knew according to one of the Vaadwaur people was that the under-space walls must have been damaged somehow and it had caused a breach that pulled Voyager in without them even knowing, like what happened to us captain.” with this she sat back in her chair as to signal that was the end of her report.

Again surprised at how in-depth the Ensign had gone to report her findings, the captain sat forward, leaning on the desk saying “Thank you Ensign that was more than I expected and more than we all knew a short while ago. Has anyone else got anything to add? Maybe how we could get home and report back to Starfleet about what happened and where we have been.”

With no one else having much to say about how they got there or anything new about the under-space conduits. Lt. Commander Ramsey started his report on the state of the engines and the ship itself.

“Well, captain first off the ship is in good condition. The shields are fine and ready when you need them, and any of the serious velocities we were travelling when in this under-space did not affect the warp engine. How we got over 70,000 light-years so quickly at the speed we were going I have no idea captain, speed as we perceive, must work differently in the Under-space. Warp 7.5 to us must have been a lot faster in under-space and our systems could not recognise that we were travelling a lot faster than we were. But the engines are in working order and we can move when you are ready,” reported Lt Commander Ramsey.

“Tactical systems are fully working and set on standby. Shield emitters are primed and ready and the deflector dish is primed and active.” Lt Commander Sharpe.

“Thank you, so what do we know about where we are? How do we get back? Has anyone come up with any ideas? I don’t want to do what our helmsman said and have our own Voyager stunt and get sent halfway across the galaxy with no way home. Our little Gilroy is not like the USS Voyager and we can’t stand half the events or danger that Voyager was able to withstand.”

And with that, the crew all get up and make their way out of the conference room.

UnderSpace Hour 3 & 4 – what do we do now? How do we get home?

Gamma Quadrant
240106.14

Hour 3 & 4 – what do we do now? How do we get home?

Almost half an hour went by since the senior crew met in the conference room. Most crew, including the ensign, returned to their stations to carry on their shift. As for the captain and the first officer, they moved to the captain’s ready room to discuss what they were to do next, inviting the ship’s counsellor to join them.

“Danvers, what are we going to do? Are we going to take on the same actions that the USS Voyager and her crew did and set course for home?” said Telkir.

“Honestly, Captain, unless we can detect another under-space opening like we did back in the Alpha quadrant and hope it swallows us up again, spitting us out, somewhere close to home. I think our best action is to do the same as the crew of Voyager and set the course for home. But we have a choice to make a captain. Do we head home via the Gamma quadrant and explore uncharted space and use the wormhole that connects the Gamma quadrant to the alpha quadrant and next to Deep Space Nine or do we set course for the Bazon Wormhole in the Delta Quadrant and get home that way?” asked Commander Danvers.

Before the captain could even get a chance to answer, the commander looked at Lt. Allen and asked. “So Lieutenant, what do you think,

  • what do you think from a ship’s counselor’s point of view the crew would want to do?
  • What do you think would be better for them?
  • Is that the road already taken when we have information on the upcoming route and races, or do we take the unknown route?
  • What do you think we should do?”

After asking the Lieutenant what he thinks and asking for his opinion, she leaned forward got up went to the replicated ordered a sweet lemon coffee with 2 sugars and then sat back down where she was waiting for what the ship’s councillor thought they should do.

A few moments later, John leaned forward and said, “Commander, sorry Rose, we, as you know, are stuck between a rock and a hard place. No matter which way we head, it will be a difficult route. We are ill-prepared, unlike the USS Voyager, to embark on a long journey or face any hostile races that would prioritise attacking rather than seeking information and friendship. In my opinion, we would stand a better chance of heading back via the Delta Quadrant. At least we have information on the races, their technology and who to look out for, and no one got anywhere nearby. Personally, no matter if we are in a California class ship, a galaxy class or even a warlike Defiant class ship I would want to go home the route of the Gamma quadrant to be able to explore and do what Starfleet’s primary mission was, and that’s to explore strange new worlds, new life and new civilisations.”

Lt Allen’s answer was one that neither the captain nor his first officer was looking for at all, l but it at least gave them a view of what at least one person was on board the ship and a good view from that. With that, Captain Telkir got up from his seat and stood looking out the ready room window. Taking in a view of this strange space, the space looked the same as space always looked Wherever you were—a few moments passed, taking in the advice from Lt. Allen and the advice of his first officer from the talk they had on their way down to the ready room. He came to his decision on what they would do and turned to the two.

“Right, we will head home via the Gamma Quadrant. We will take a page out of the USS Voyagers book and get home while beholding the principles of the federation and go back to what their primary mission was so many years ago.” with this Commander Danvers and Lt. Allen both looked at each other somewhat concerned both thinking that they are not the USS Voyager and don’t have the capabilities of that ship. Seeing the looks on their faces the captain continued to say “I know what you are both thinking, yes we are not Voyager and why didn’t we head back via the Delta Quadrant and the route that we have so much data on its species and who we can and can’t more or less trust.” take a breath to sit back down and engage what the two had to say.

“Frankly yes,” said Commander Danvers with Lt. John nodding in agreement. “I decided to take us this way because we don’t know if there are any species this way like the Vaadwaur or even the Turei that might know how to access the under-space or may even be the creators of this form of travel.” speaking form a point of logic when explaining to his to fellow officers and even thorough they might not like his decision or even totally agree with it they accepted his answer and both nodding there heads as to say ok.

An hour had passed since that chat in the captain’s quarters the captain and the commander had made their way to the bridge while Lt John went to his office waiting for the announcement that he knew was coming. Seconds later the captain looked at Lt. Commander Sharpe and said “Open a ship-wide channel please” and with that turned and walked towards the front of the bridge. Lt, Commander did what she was asked and a second later the channel was open.

“Crew of the USS Gilroy, this is your captain speaking, as a lot of you are aware if not all of you by this time now we are no longer in the Alpha quadrant and taking a quote from our helmsman Ensign Thalasa Pemberton” walking forward to her and placing his hand on her shoulder.

“We have done a Voyager manoeuvre and been catapulted 70.000 light years from our home. The difference here is we are not in the Delta Quadrant we have ended in the far reaches of the Gamma Quadrant.”

from here he headed to the front of the bridge, turned to look at his entire bridge crew and continued to say. “I met with a few of the senior crew discussed our predicament and came down with a solution for what we going to do. We truly are going to set our course for home but we are not going to take the route which is best suited for us we head via the Delta quadrant to the wormhole instead we are to set our course for the Gamma Quadrant wormhole and head home via Deep Space nine. I know this will be a hard and very dangerous trip not knowing what is out there, not knowing if we are ever to make it home, but we are Starfleet we will do what we trained to do, we will make it home somehow some way.” and with that, he nodded to end the call at Lt. Commander Sharpe, sitting back in his chair “helm set course for home and engage”

Underspace Hour 7 & 8 – Contact

Gamma Quadrant
240106.14

Hour 7 & 8 – Contact

“It’s been 2 hours till we set course for home, and the captain gave a speech of purpose and inspiration, something like that, of which Captain Janeway probably gave her crew all them years ago. Since then I have had a few crew members drop in voicing their concern on the captain’s decision not to take us the route of the Delta Quadrant. I picked this course also even if I didn’t give the order but after chatting to some of my fellow crew mates, I get the feeling maybe I should have insisted that we set course via the delta quadrant at least that way we would have known what we were getting into and my fellow crew mates would feel better and more assured that we will make it home. Computer end log.” with that Lt Allen made his way to bed.

Moments later on the bridge the night shift team led by LT Willa Holland was completing scans of nearby sectors when tactical pointed out that they had received a distress call from a nearby system on the second planet in that system a type M class orbiting a pair of suns. At further scans, the two solar systems slightly merged and the suns were only 9.000 light years apart. noticing that the planet they have received the distress call from will be in the middle of both suns making it almost impossible to mount a rescue of whoever is putting out that distress call.

“Helm get us within coms range, Lt Hill can you make out what the distress call is saying” while turning around to look at him. Then again turning back to the view screen and saying “LT(JG) Batootil can u determine where on the planet the distress call is coming from”  said Lt Holland. With that, the Lt sat back in the command chair and waited to call the senior staff because they had only been off shift awhile. A few moments passed and the ship was in range of the distress call. “Lt open hailing frequency please and opps can you determine where on the planet they are, and can you detect how many life forms?”

“This is the USS Gilroy to whoever is down on the planet soon to be in between 2 orbiting suns, I am  Lt Willa Holland how can we help, what is the emergency?” but the Lt got no reply from whoever had sent out the call.

“Lt I’m reading 3 different lifeforms down on the planet on different continents also. If the sensors are reading this right I’m picking up 3 Human life signs, 2 Klingons and 2 Romulasn. I can’t tell how badly they are injured due to the increasing interference from both suns as the planet gets closer to the centre.”

Looking at the young Lt(JG) Batootil and nodding while saying thank you to him, he also tapped a button on the panel of the command chair and said “Sickbay this is Lt Holland on the bridge we received a distress call and will be hopefully beaming up some Klingons, Romulans and humans so prepare to for their arrival.” tapping the button to close the channel and tapping it again she says “Commander danvers this is the bridge.”

Moments later the commander replied “Go ahead bridge, can’t you run a night shift without me holding your hand” replied the commander. “Very funny commander, actually I’m calling you as we have discovered a distress call on a nearby planet, that life signs of Klingons, Romans and humans all spread out the planet’s surface.” in response to that the commander said I will be up soon, I want you in the ready room to inform me what has happened. Danvers out” and with that the comms went quiet.

Moments later the commander arrived on the bridge and walked straight to the ready room looking at the Lt as she walked onto the bridge. Seconds later the Lt got up from the command chair and followed into the ready room. As the doors shut behind them and the commander takes a seat at the desk you see Lt Commander Holland sitting down on the sofa that was across from the desk picking up a pad to relay the information that had come across in the last 20 minutes.

“Well, commander about 35 minutes ago we detected a distress call coming from a new M-class planet. So I ordered us to investigate. Upon arrival and performing scans into the sector, we discovered that the planet was en route to enter between two neighbouring suns 9,000 light years apart. It looks like it’s a due system that’s merged partly within each other. Upon scans of the planet, we found 3 types of life forms scattered throughout the planet. They are 3 humans, 2 Klingons and 2 Romulans. We have tried to make contact but there is no way as either they are not receiving our transmissions their equipment is damaged or the interference from both sons is blocking the signal. I’ve also informed sickbay to be ready for our visitors informing them who we have coming up and then contacted your commander” With that the young Lt put her pad to her side awaiting a response from the commander.

“OK understood Lt how long till we are in the range of the planet to send down away teams to assess the situation and for us to start beaming anyone up,” asked Commander Danvers,

“We will be in range on them in about 20 minutes commander, are we going to inform the captain of the situation” asked the Lt.

Looking out at the window wondering how other humans, Klingons and Romulans got stranded on the planet, the commander replied finally

“I will inform the captain of the situation and let him know what course of action has been put in place and we will go from there” replied the commander.

And with that, the Lt got up and left the commander to it. He was returning to the bridge to resume his post till he was relieved. In contrast, the commander was still tired and had not had the chance to relax after his shift went to the replicator and ordered a white coffee 1 sugar hot and strong to try to wake him up. Upon sitting back at the desk and overgoing the sensor logs for the last half an hour Commander Danvers finally tapped the console to open a channel to the captain’s quarters. Seconds later the captain answered the comms and said “Telkir here” and in replied the commander then said “Captain we have a situation that I can deal with but I think you might want to be ready for when we bring our possible guests on board” and with that the commander went into debriefing the captain. A short time later the ship arrived at the planet in a high orbit, centred between both the suns.

“Lt status please where are we with the rescue mission,” said Commander Danvers as she walked onto the bridge. The Lt stood from the command chair and said “I had the ship put into a high orbit until we know the conditions of the planet and what we walking into I didn’t want the solar rays interfering with the ship’s systems. We are about to try and locate the survivors on the planet and see if we can get a single to them being closer to the planet now. I’ve heard from Sickbay they are ready for the arrivals and I have security posted down there outside the room just in case.” replied the Lt.

Taking the command seat and the Lt taking the first officer seat the commander said “Lt Hill open a channel see if we can contact the people down there.” with that the Lt opened a channel. “This is Commander Danvers of the USS Gilroy answering the distress call we have received can anyone hear me.” giving it a few seconds to see if they got a reply the commander turned around and looked at Lt Hill and asked “Is Our signal getting down there, try to boost the signal just in case they having interference on their end.” and with this, the young Lt tapped away on his console and replied, “signal is going out Commander and I’ve enhanced the signal as much as I can with all the interference we getting from both suns.”

Again the commander said, “This is Commander Danvers of the USS Gilroy answering the distress call we have received can anyone hear me? If you receiving the signal but have no way to reply, try changing your distress call to a different message” again giving the people on the planet a chance to adapt their signal to acknowledge they are hearing the ship.

A few minutes later the signal frequency started to modulate on a different bandwidth and with the message “help we need” the message stopped. With that, the commander ordered the ship into a lower orbit. I want 3 four-man away teams ready to go each with a medic all to beam down to the separate sites. Lt Hill and Lt Holland you two lead two of the teams the third team leader Lt Holland you set who you want to run the third team. I will contact medical and get 3 members sent down to transporter room 2”

A few moments passed and the transporter room soon filled up with 12 additional crew members ready to beam down in 3 teams of 4 people. Lt Holland was the last to enter the transporter room walking straight to the transport chief. “Chief do you have the 3 locations to beam down to.” the transporter chief replied “Yes I do, Lt all programmed and ready” ok send the first team to the Romulans, the second team to the humans and my teams to the Klingons.”

Underspace Hour 9: The Rescue

Gamma Quadrant
240106.14

Hours 9 – The Rescue.

The away team commanded by Lt Holland were the last to beam down to the planet and were assigned to collecting the Klingons that had been standard on this planet for god knows how long. They rematerialised with their phasers set to stun and already draw the 3 away team homes in on the Klingon lifeforms 2 klicks away on southern south by southeast heading from their beaming in the site. Because of the interference from both sons Lt Holland’s team had to beam in 2 klicks away from the Klingons, which meant they had to hike their way to them.

Lt Holland pointed at one of the security personnel to take the lead and one to follow leaving the medical staff and Lt Holland in the middle allowing Lt Holland to explain what was to happen when they arrived.

The journey to the crash site didn’t take the team long as they knew they were short on time and still had to return to the ship before transport became impossible. Luckily they brought pattern enhancers allowing them to beam back from their current location saving them time if any complications were getting the survivors out.

Arriving at the crash site they had their phasers still drawn the Lt took point, shouting out because they had noticed from their tricorder scans that two of the Klingons were armed with one patrolling waiting for action as if they were expecting it.

“I’m Lt Holland of the Federation starship USS Gilroy, we received your distress call and were the ones that contacted you from orbit. We coming in please don’t fire.” with that the Lt and one of the security team headed in first to make sure it was ok slowly putting away their phasers so as not to startle the Klingons and make them think they were an invading force.

“I’m Lt Holland this is one of my security officers is anyone in need of medical attention as I have a medic and another security officer waiting back there is it ok to bring them in also” With this one of the Klingons came over offering their hand out as they were familiar with earth greeting customs and said in reply “yes please we have one here injured I’ve done all I can but don’t know how long they will survive” with this the Lt double tapped her comb badge instructing the other two to come forth which also informed the security officer it was safe and to put his weapon away.

Upon arriving the medical officer went straight to work diagnosing the Klingons giving them a mild sedative and applying a dermal regenerator over some of the minor open wounds on the Klingons’ faces and hands.

Almost ten minutes passed since arriving at the camp and the two fellow security officers had managed to set out the transporter enhancement pattern rods, not that they had a lot of space to work with because of all the debris lying around from what looked like different ships that had crashed and broken up on entry.

The Klingons were given the say-so to be moved from where they had been laying for god knows how long to the transporter site ready to be beamed straight to sickbay. All seven members stood inside the transport area and Lt Holland tapped her badge.

“Holland to transporter room we have seven to beam up to sickbay please when you ready chief. Have the other two teams reported in yet?” then all you heard from the other end was “Yes Lt they both reported in and are back on board with their survivors.” replied the transporter chief Tadoro. And with that, the chief tapped away at the console beaming the final team back up to the ship.

It only took seconds for the away team to beam from the planet back to the ship and to appear in sickbay. Upon finishing beaming in Dr Arias was standing waiting to get the injured Klingon onto the biobed so she could assess his condition. The other two Klingons on the other hand didn’t want any treatment till their fellow Klingon was dealt with. This annoyed her which made the Dr which made her turn around to the remaining Klingons and say with a strong forceful voice while standing toe toe-to-toe with the closest Klingon.

“If you want your fellow Klingon to survive then I suggest you both take a seat over there and let my team treat you while I treat him and if I hear one objection from either of you then I will beam all three of you back down to the planet and leave you there, do you understand me”

With that, the two Klingons backed off and sat on separate beds.

“Oh and another thing I don’t want to hear any objections to who is treating you”

With that, the Dr turned around and started scanning her patient. The room went quiet with everyone standing shocked especially the captain, as he walked in just as the last team arrived back on board.

“So Dr can you give any updates on our patients please.” Asked the captain.

She turned to look at him while still scanning the Klingon, “I’m a bit busy captain I will get a report to you in a minute but the Romulan and human members are over there if you wanna talk to them” and With that turned her attention back to her Klingon patient.

Meanwhile, nurse Langenhein was preparing to examine one of the Klingons while another nurse looked at the other. The Klingon that was about to be looked over by nurse Langenhein was about to kick off because he was going to be examined by a Cardassian but remembered the warning he had received moments beforehand and just sat there allowing the exam to go ahead, feeling he was being watched by the Dr treating his fellow crewmate.

Elsewhere in sickbay, you see the captain making his way over to the Romulan members that had been rescued.

“Hello, I’m Captain Stokar Telkir, commander of the USS Gilroy, if you’re up for it I like to ask how you got here and especially stranded on this planet”

The Romulans looked at each other as if to say why should we say anything apart from thank you for the rescue and when are you going to take us home, they also were thinking how was a federation vessel still intact and functioning with her crew and not stranded on the planet like they were.

One of the Romulans seemed too hesitant to talk and only seemed to answer anything with a nod even to his fellow Romulan. As for the other, he didn’t have a problem answering anything.

“I’m sub-commander Telvak and this is Corlack we thank you for the rescue, but I can I ask what is the current stardate.”

With that Captain Telkir replied “The current stardate is 240106.14 why do you ask the sub-commander” With that the captain sat against the biobed opposite the sub-commander.

“What is so important about the stardate sub-commander,” asked Telkir.

A state of shock appeared on both of the Romulan faces. The information shocked them as they knew that a long time had passed. A few minutes passed and the sub-commander replied

“Well, captain going by what you say we have been down on that planet for almost 6 weeks. The last thing I remember before then was heading back to the homeworld on board a shuttle. There were two and three others but they all died on impact when our ship crash-landed here. Second later before Telkir could ask any more questions the Dr walked over and said “Captain my patients need time to rest give them a few hours and then come back. As for the Klingons, they will all be fine I like to keep one here for observation but the other two can be assigned quarters, these two Romulans will be free to go in a few hours I like to keep an eye on them two. You want to talk with anyone. Talk with the 3 survivors over there. They were lucky enough to receive only a few minor cuts, bruises, and a broken wrist that’s been repaired.”

And with that she helped one of the two Romulans to bed, insisting that the two Romulans take a break for a bit before any more questions.

Upon this, the captain was about to leave and one of the human survivors walked over to him and asked “Did I hear right, that you’re the captain.” Telkir turned to the human survivor and replied “Yes you heard right, what can I do for you.” with that the human survivor replied “I’m Dr Carol Mendes can you tell me where we are and did I hear you right on the stardate?” asked Dr Mendes.

“You are on board the Starfleet vessel Gilroy we are a supply ship and we are currently in orbit around a planet in the Gamma Quadrant, as for the stardate yes you heard me correctly,” replied the captain. Dr Mendes stood back in shock because of where she was but because of how long she had been there. The news was that shocking she passed out on to the captain who luckily managed to catch her in time before hurting herself any more than she already was. The captain being quite a well-built man picked the Dr up and placed her on the biobed to which she came from.

Looking around at Dr Arias he said “Doc looks like she needs some rest also I’m heading to my ready room inform me when all our guests are awake.

Underspace Hour 14

Gamma Quadrant

Hour 14.

Captains log.

“It’s been a few hours since we rescued the Klingon, Romulan and human survivors of a planet close to where we appeared in the Gamma quadrant. Since then we have set our course for home scanning for the same anomalies we detected before we left our last known position within the Alpha Quadrant. In the meantime, I have had the privilege to speak to our Romulan and Klingon survivors. Both stories are almost the same but their time frames are different due to when they arrived. I still need to talk to Dr Mendes and her crew and hear how her crew got here and how long they had been there. From then I will write my official log and report back what they said to me.”

Just as the captain finished recording his log he received a call on his comb badge from no other than Sickbay. Telkir tapped his comb in response to the call.

“Telkir here”

“Captain this is Dr Arias in Sickbay. Can we find some quarters for our survivors before a fight erupts between the Klingons and the Romulans? And second, you asked me to inform you where the human Dr and her crew were ready to meet you.”

“Thank you Dr I will have security take both the Klingons and Romulans off your hands and the counsellor bring the Dr and her crew to me in the conference room shortly. Can you please inform Dr. Mendes that she will be seeing me shortly, Telkir out” and with that, he popped his badge ending the call and then tapped it again saying.

“Security this is the captain”

With that Lt Commander Sharpe answered

“This is Lt Commander Sharpe on the bridge what’s the matter captain”

He then replied, “Can u send two security teams to Sickbay along with yourself to oversee our Klingon and Romulan guests are placed in quarters at different ends of the ship and if possible on different levels please.”

“I’m on it, consider it taken care of captain” and with that, the Lt commander ended the call and made her way off the bridge.

Upon exiting the turbo lift the Lt commander saw 4 other security personnel standing partially outside and inside of sickbay. Pushing herself through her team she entered sickbay to find 3 of her security personnel trying to keep the Klingons and Romulans from trying to rip each other apart.

As soon as the Lt commander walked in she raised her voice, something hardly anyone had ever heard and no one on this crew had ever heard.

“What the hell is going on in here, you should both be grateful you’re alive but instead you are both acting like overdoses Racktorian beasts ready to kill their prey,”

While saying this she noticed that no one was paying attention so she drew her phaser out and fired it across the pathway between the two races forcing them to stand down and pay attention to her. Lowing her voice slightly she carried on talking.

“Thank you I know you are all unsatisfied with your current accommodations and don’t want to be sitting across from each other but we now have rooms ready for you. So calm down and follow my security personnel to your allotted rooms.”

With this, the Klingons and Romulans backed off and stood by their closet biobed waiting to leave.

She turned around and pointed at four of her team instructing them on where to take the Romulan party and for two of them to stay guard outside their room (pointing at who she wanted to guard) with that the Romulan party got up and left Through a door on the far end of sickbay away from the Klingons.

“Now as for you,”

looking at the Klingons

“You will be accompanied by me and these men to your quarters. I don’t want any trouble out of you about your room or the accommodations themself, unfortunately, we are not a Klingon ship so we don’t have all the things you are used to.”

With that, she walked over to the Dr and said “Sorry about the phaser blast I have someone come to repair the damage soon”

She then headed back towards the door, indicating to two of the security personnel to lead the way. She then waved her hand to the Klingons, informing them they were next. Which in turn she followed with the remaining security guard.

Just as they arrived at the turbo lift Lt Allen walked out, making his way to sickbay to escort Dr. Mendes and her crew to see the captain in the conference room.

Underspace: Hours 15 and 16: The chat and making of a plan.

The captain sat in his chair in the conference room drinking a hot lemon tea waiting for the councillor to turn up with Dr. Mendes. A few seconds only passed and the door to the conference room opened. In walked Lt Allen followed by the Dr and her crew.

The captain turned on his chair and stood to say

“Please take a seat.” And with that, the doctor and her fellow crew took seats near the captain on his left-hand side and Lt Allen joined the captain on his right-hand side like he had done with the Klingons and Romulans.

“Thank you for coming to meet with me. For those that don’t officially know me, I’m the captain. My name is Telkir and this is the ship’s counsellor that you should already know, Lt Allen. I’ve asked you here to get your account of how you got to the gamma quadrant and stranded on the planet we found you on” With that he stopped allowing the visitors to breathe and relax more. While taking a sip of his drink Lt Allen asked.

“Would anyone like a drink before we start?” One of the doctor’s crew replied “Yes can I get a glass of water set at minus 5 Celsius please” Another shook his head to indicate he was fine and Dr Mendes replied, “I take a passion fruit juice also at minus 5 Celsius.” And with this the Lt got up from his seat, headed over to the replicator situated on the same wall as the doors which was behind that of the visitors, and placed his order but adding a hot tea with a hint of lemon.

Moments later he returned to the table with the drinks for the visitors and then collected his tea and took a seat back at the table.

“So Dr like the captain said we are not here to investigate you or to arrest you we are just here to ask you, do you know how you got to the Gamma Quadrant and what happened for you to be stranded on the planet” said Lt Allen.

A few seconds went past and the doctor spoke “First please call me Carol and second how we got here we couldn’t say we were on our way to the starbase like I said to you captain. We were on a re-supply run for the colonel we were helping that were still having trouble growing their crops since they relocated to another planet allowing for the Romulan resettlement of their planet. After the tragedy, they had gone through. As we normally do we put the ship on autopilot and we all grab a few hours of sleep as we don’t get much when the back planet side. About halfway to the starbase, we were all woken by the ship being pulled into what we thought was a Borg conduit and we all knew we had no chance to fight back.

After a few moments, the ship stopped shaking and we found ourselves back in normal space. We tried to send out a communication to anyone nearby but got nothing and once we got partial power back to the computers we were able to determine that we were in the gammon quadrant but we were not sure as the computer was that damaged it was not able to give us a true reading till we fixed it. What we didn’t know was that the whole time since we entered and left that brown-like Borg conduit the core had started to have a meltdown and we only just realised in time to eject it and get away as fast as possible.” She stopped for a second, took a sip of her drink and then resumed her talk.

“As we found out luck was not on our side even though we managed to put some distance between us and the warp reactor it was not enough and we were hit by the shock wave causing us to spin out of control and crash land on this planet.” Taking a deep breath and remembering what the captain had said in sickbay she continues to say “from what you said earlier and from what stardate it was when we left it’s been 6 years for us down here on the planet, I knew we had been there a long time but didn’t think it was that long.” All three members sat there in shock and disbelief that they had been stranded for so long.

“Thank you for your time and I’m sorry that you were down there for this time. if it was not for the thing that brought us here ourselves. I don’t think any of you would have lasted that included the Klingons or the Romulans.” Mentioned Lt Allen.

With that, the Dr and her two crew members got up and made their way back to their quarters followed by Lt Allen.

“Sorry about my comment back there, I did not want you to feel worse than you already are with missing so long in your life. If you like you can always come to me if you want anyone to talk to about your time down on the planet, that offer goes out to all of you. Also if you like you could access what database we have one of the Civilian records we hold and find any friends or members of your family so when we get home you can contact them again.”

With that, the Dr said “Thank you kindly” giving the young Lt a smile after talking. The Lt smiled back and then looked back at the other two to receive a smile and nod from both of them as they must have still been in shock with the stardate news.

Moments later they arrived at their quarters and that’s where the Lt left them with a guard standing outside the front of their room just like it was at all three of the different guests they had recently received.

Elsewhere on board, the captain had returned to his ready room to record his log about the chat with the Klingons, Romulans and fellow humans. When he got a call from chief engineer Ramsey asking if he was free to pop down to engineering and speak to him and the young Lt jr grade Tior about a possible way home. Lucky enough the captain had not started his recording and made his way down to engineering. As he left the bridge he spoke to his first officer and said “if you need me I’m down in engineering.” And with that entered the turbolift. A few moments had passed since Lt Commander Ramsey had contacted the captain, but out of nowhere, the captain entered Engineering.

“Captain I was not expecting this quickly” said Lt Commander Ramsey

“Do you want me to walk out and come back? Will that be long enough?” replied the captain with a bit of humour. Both engineers smiled and found that kinda funny for the captain.

“No you’re fine captain, our plans are just theoretical and the holodeck simulations are promising but we of course need to try it out for real.” Said Lt Jr Tior.

“Stop beating around the block and tell me what you are talking about before I get up and leave,” replied Telkir, looking curious but a bit annoyed at the same time.

“Sorry captain, we came up with a possible way of getting home or at least Lt Jr Tior has.” Said the chief.

“Thanks, chief, yeah I’ve been studying all of the sensor data from the point we got pulled into underspace to the point we arrived in the gamma quadrant. I believe with a few modifications to the deflector we can generate a pulse to open up the underspace and enter but from there, it’s then down to you what our heading is. I worked out that we were in the corridors of the underspace for only a matter of 22 minutes. So when that time elapses we can activate the deflector again to get out hopefully back a lot closer to home.” Said the young Lt Jr Tior.

“Well get to it then and get us home and if you pull this off Lt Jr Tior there will be a promotion in your near future.” Said the captain, just as he got up from leaning on the console and made his way out of engineering.

Both engineers looked at each other in surprise and shock. The chief patted the engineer on his back and said well let’s get to it. With that, the chief called everyone on duty to gather around the main console so that the young Lt who he was putting in charge of this assignment could dish out all the tasks to his fellow engineers.

Underspace Hours 19  & 20 the test and journey home.

“It’s been two hours since the captain gave the ok to try out my plan. We almost completed all the alterations needed to the deflector dish and I’ve programmed the computer with the frequency that was working when tried in the simulations. We have about half an hour left on the alterations and that allows me enough time to go over all the plans and alterations to make sure that we get this right the first time.” End Personal log said Tior.”, sitting quietly over in a corner or engineering while he goes over everything.

“Engineering this is the captain, how long till we are ready to try this,” asked the captain.

“Captain this is Lt Jr Tior we need just under half an hour while the alterations are complete and I can just run a quick test of the system before trying it as I don’t want this to go wrong and damage the deflector dish.” Replied the young Lt Jr grade.

With that, the captain ended the channel and said “I will be in my ready room for the next 20 minutes while we wait and before I make a sprang to the crew on what’s going to happen. You have the bridge, Commander.

The next 20 minutes felt like it was 40 minutes long but engineering was finally finished. “Bridge this is engineering we are ready to try this out. We just entered the final calculations into the computer and be ready in 2 minutes.” with this the captain overheard as he walked onto the bridge as the comb channel closed. He walked over to his chair looked around the bridge and then walked over to the bridge plaque looked at it and wiped his finger across the top of the plaque checking to see if it was dirty or not. Upon wiping the top of the plaque he walked back to his seat asked for a shipwide channel and sat down on his chair.

“This is the captain, first off you don’t already know we have guests on board some Klingons, Romulans and some additional fellow humans we recently rescued them from a planet and have taken them home with us. So please if you see them make them feel welcome like I know this crew will. Second off as you know a few hours ago I spoke to you about our situation and what had been decided on our course of action. Well since then some of our engineers have come up with a way to possibly open up the conduit we have come to know as underspace and hopefully get us home a lot sooner than we were expecting. So I ask all to prepare for a bumpy trip and as you humans like to say cross your fingers and touch wood for luck, not that you can do the wood bit on board. So every brace for turbulence, Telkir out.”

With that, he sat back in his chair and said “Helm are you ready, have you received everything from engineering.” the helm turned to reply “Yes captain I have a course set for home when we enter underspace and a timer set to when the engines are set to cut off” replied the Ensign.

“Lt commander, are you ready to activate the deflector” looking back over his shoulder from the command chair.

“Yes, captain I received the frequency and firing pattern from engineering, ready to activate on your say so” replied Lt Commander Sharpe. With that, the captain turned back to look at the viewscreen pulled his tunic uniform top-down and said “Let’s go home shall we, engage”

With this, the Lt commander activated the program. Moments later the whole bridge crew could see a bluey/white beam being emitted from the deflector dish to a position 1000 meters in front of them. A few minutes when by then you heard the Lt commander say

“Activating phase 2” and with that she tapped a few buttons and on the view screen the beam from the deflector started to pulse along with the steady beam that was already coming from it.

Moments yet again passed and finally, the operations office spoke up. “Captain we getting some readings that matched what we had when we were pulled in from the alpha quadrant”

With this the Lt commander then said “Activating the final stage.” and with a push of a few buttons again, the display changed on the viewscreen. The beam was still there but the pulses had increased with intensity as well as the two torpedoes that had been configured to help break through the walls of the underspace and pull the Gilroy back in. At first, nothing seemed to happen as if it was a total failure but the Lt had spoken to the engineers early when she heard of the whispers going around of their plan to get them home and from their chat she concluded that maybe the walls might just need another two torpedoes and asked the guys to complete the modifications on 4 not 2 torpedoes. So she fired the second round of torpedoes as a hunch from her chat earlier on that day.

Both the captain and the first officer, knowing that they were told only two torpedoes had been designed for the event, were surprised and looked back at the Lt commander wondering why she had just fired another 2 but to their thinking they were just normal torpedoes.  With this, the Lt commander just looked at them and said,

“I’m just playing off a hunch I had after talking to the guys in engineering earlier on and had them retrofit another two torpedoes…” Before she could finish off her explanation the Ensign at the helm said “Captain we moving and something happened on the screen.” With this, both the captain and the first officer turned and Commander Danvers said “Ahead full half impulse.” With that, the helm initiated the engines and within seconds the rift started to open and the Lt commander deactivated the deflected dish as it was no longer needed.

Moments later they were finally in the underspace. There was a bit of a cheer from the people on the bridge that it had worked. “Helm you have our course and the time limit we need to be roughly travelling, so please get us home”  said the commander.

“Yes commander course set and timer activated and off home we go” replied the ensign while she tapped away at her console.  22 minutes soon passed going through underspace with some amazing frying coming from the ensign at the helm dodging debris with the help of the Lt it grade posted at the operations console to her left relaying to her all the information she needed to get them through underspace in one piece. The ship soon came to a stop but they ran into a slight problem. Where they needed to be to activate the deflector dish program for the second time was going to be a bit of a problem as it was full of debris from other ships long ago torn apart within the underspace. With quick thinking and some fancy firing while the ensign was trying to get into position the Lt commander fired a volley of phaser shots destroying the debris that sat in the way and around the ship. With her finger on the trigger ready to take out anymore if needed.

“Lt commander yet again that was some clear and quick thinking well done if you have finished being our space version of John Wayne will you again activate the pulse” said Commander Danvers.

With a slight grin on her face, she replied yes commander but before doing so she contacted engineering. “Lt Commander Ramsey we are about to activate the beam again is everything ready to go and are my 4 torpedoes ready” Seconds later she got a reply “Bridge everything is set to go and yes we just finished configuring the last torpedo so it all now down to you” replied the chief.

With that once again, the Lt commander activated the program that activated the deflector dish. “Helm you ready to take us home” asked the Lt commander as she activated the program. The Ensign turned and smiled looking at the senior staff behind her and replied “Yes Lt commander” and turned back looking at the view screen.

Stardate 240106.14 – Time Index 11:00 hours.

With the current events going on throughout the quadrants all of Starfleet starbase, stations, ships and outposts were running at yellow alert ready for the possible opening of an underspace rupture appearing.

While going about their normal duties the crew stationed at Jupiter station were soon about to go to action stations because for them a rift was about to form 2000 metres off the starboard side and only 1000 metres from the upper atmosphere of Jupiter. Far enough not to cause anything coming through or being pulled in getting affected by the pull of Jupiter itself.

Seconds later the station went to red alert as they had detected the breach of an opening from Underspace. Not knowing what if anything was coming out they put their shields up and activated what weapon systems they had for defence.

The commander of the station who was about to turn in for a few hours after being up for over 36 hours, soon woke up and ordered a red alert and for everyone to get to their evacuation points ready to evacuate if need be.  Seconds later the rift fully opened and out came the USS Gilroy operating on half impulse. Seeing this on their screens the station commander cancelled the red alert. The breach in underspace closed without any warning putting a look of relief on the station commander’s face.

Back on the Gilroy, everyone was celebrating when they got home they didn’t need to confirm their position because on the view screen was Jupiter or at least part of it due to its size and the Jupiter station.

“Open hailing channel to the station please Lt Commander,” asked the captain. With that, the Lt commander opened a channel. Moments later the commander of the station appeared on the screen.

“Sorry about dropping In unannounced and hope we didn’t cause you any worry over there, we kinda reemerged in a different set of coordinates than we were aiming for. We get out of your way and sorry again for the disturbance.”  The commander of the station simply smiled and replied “No problem I think you will be wanted at Deep Space 17 for a debrief” with that, the commander smiled and closed the channel.

“Well, helm you heard the commander get us to Deep Space 17 warp factor 5” as he sat back in his chair taking a sigh of relief. And with that, the ensign engaged the engines.

underspace captains log

Captains Log. Stardate: 24010614.

The day started like any old day performing a resupply run to a local planet. Out of nowhere we were ordered to check out some strange readings that were appearing all over the galaxy.

The ship took one hell of a battering for the old ship that she is. Being pulled into that underspace like she was and bounced about like she did she held up very well.

The crew worked well under the extreme conditions. There are a few that I’m going to be putting up for promotion for extreme work and dedication to getting us all home.

The fellow crew members are who I’m putting up for promotion

Ensign Pemberton – for her extreme thinking and dedication to Starfleet and the history of the USS Voyager if she was not such a history buff we would have never known about what took us to the Gamma Quadrant.

Lt Commander Sharpe – for her quick actions when it come to getting us home, taking things with her gut and having additional torpedos made.

Lt Jr grade Tior – for coming up with a plan to get us home that Lt commander Sharpe l. He’s getting the promotion for the excellent work he has done getting us home.

Lt Jones Hill – for taking charge of the situation in rescuing the Klingons Romulans and humans from the planet.

Apart from Lt Jr Tior and Ensign Pemberton who are going to be getting a promotion for their quick actions and dedication to the job.

I have attached to my log all the details from the interviews I performed with the Klingons Romulans and the Humans that we rescued from the planet we found them on. I felt sorry for the human survivors they were there the longest and survived extremely well considering there was not much on the planet. As I have detailed in my report I’m surprised anyone could survive on that planet with it being stuck between two solar systems and even more between two suns from what we worked out every 7 years.

The genius work that the young Lt jr grade Tior came up with getting us home was in my eyes extremely inventive and he will be a promising Chief engineer one day. Working out that using the deflector dish to send out a beam and then a second set of pulses to back up the first one was just a genius at work but to top it all up working out that would not be enough to penetrate the walls of the underspace and he would need to use some additional firepower in the form of torpedoes to give that last punch in the wall was just fantastic. But what also got me was that Lt Commander Sharpe also demised that what he was doing might not be enough as she had recently looked up everything the crew of Voyager had on the underspace corridors and concluded it might take more than he had already accounted for.

The Gilroy has performed perfectly and with taking a beating for travelling both ways through under space. And I will be sad to say goodbye to her when I move up to my new command and take my crew with me as the ship will be going in for repairs and ready for the next starting captain.
