The USS Corax is set on course to explore the largely unexplored Nekrit Expanse situated in the delta quadrant. On mission to discover new worlds unknown to Starfleet. To command the ship they have assigned newly graduated Alexander Ward.

A month after graduating Ensign Ward was assigned to the USS Corax as his first assignment, to explore the largely unexplored Nekrit Expanse. His crew consists of top graduates in their respective fields. Starfleet hopes that what they lack in experience they will make up for in knowledge. The mission is supposed to go smoothly but due to the nature of the unexplored areas the crew must be ready for anything.

To assist the ship with navigating this trecherous expanse the ingenious engineers of Starfleet have installed a new navigational system. The new method relies on using the astrometric sensors to measure the radiative flux of up to three billion stars. The computer onboard uses this information to calculate its position relative to the center of the galaxy.
