Summary

A stickler for tradition, Vincent – “Vinnie” as his family call him – embraces many long forgotten traditions of his past ancestors. Being unique in having no traceable heritage in his ascendancy line other than Chinese, Vinnie is known to have decorated living quarters in very distinctly ancient Chinese decor. Being somewhat of a clean freak – Vinnie is an oxymoron of an engineer. Touch his padd screen or control panel screen with a greasy finger and he is quick to sterilise the piece. Vinnie has the dedication and the brilliance of a workhorse, with a perfectionist OCD, which of course does not always come to terms with being a good engineer. His IQ is well within the genius range, but his eccentricities and quirks – and his penchant for all things concerning his heritage – make him extremely introverted, as he would much rather stay in his room reading Chinese classics rather than mingle in the company of crewmates. Has a knack for linguistics as well as music; as a talented pianist. He would love to one day have his own command – although his own insecurities do make him think twice. He would love to one day chief engineer a vessel he helped design. Vinnie was born on earth, to an academy professor in his father, one Sebastian Tang and his mother Dolores Liu was a civilian doctor. As a boy, Vinnie’s upbringing and demanding parents always made him an extremely competitive person, leading him to be ambitious and driven in school and all aspects of his studies. He excelled in his studies, usually ranked top of his class. On the rare occasions he didn’t, he was heavily punished by both mother and father, which battered him into a perfectionist who would much rather stay in and practice piano or do homework, rather than socialise with his mates. Vincent’s mother Dolores was, rightly or wrongly, very conscious of hygiene, drove Vinnie to his OCD for neatness and cleanliness. While his schoolmates were out and about, and playing, Vinnie was very often engrossed in books, especially about Chinese history, which lead to his fascination on the subject.
