Forum Rules

As a community, we have a set of guidelines that we follow in order to keep the Relay Station Bravo (commonly referred to as "RSB" or "the Bravo Fleet Forums" or "the forums") community going smoothly, to avoid animosity in between us, and, foremost of all, to have fun. We are all here on this piece of the Internet because we share an interest, and we want to make friends among us.

  1. The content contained on the forums will be kept to a standard in which anyone of the age of thirteen years or above can view. This is also the minimum age for viewing the content here, due to, among other things, the US COPPA Act and the general accessibility age of the latest endeavors in Star Trek. With the age limit, certain topics are not allowed on the forums, including:
    • Strong sexual content (eg. anything that would best fit a pornographic movie or gentleman's magazine)
    • Graphic nudity (eg. mentioning is OK, but detailing a Human male or female body is not allowed)
    • Graphic violence (eg. screenshots from the latest Saw movie, written descriptions of brutal violence without prior appropriate warnings)
    • Strong crude language and swearing, defined as any swear words that have been uttered in any official Star Trek movie or series is allowed.
  2. We are trying to create a forum atmosphere that is inclusive, not exclusive. Therefore, certain behaviors and topics will not be looked upon favorably:
    • Trolling or baiting - defined as provoking another person into making an attack on that person and spreading hate and bitterness
    • Flaming - defined as insulting someone directly (eg. "Your village called, they're missing their idiot") outside of the humor area; please keep in mind that ideas are separate from people, but with the same token people generally hold on to their ideas closely, and perhaps a "kid gloves" approach would be best
    • Illegal downloads, promoting software piracy or "warez", hotlinked content from any place that does not allow hotlinking. All content of this kind should be kept off of the forums at all times, with no exceptions.
    • Recruitment for RPG simulations from outside Bravo Fleet, or recruitment outside of the designated areas for recruitment
    • Back and forth posts for more than a page of posts in between two users. Seriously, that is annoying. Get onto instant messenger for that.
    • Public displays of Schadenfreude
    • Religion. For some inexplicable reason, us humble Trek geeks cannot resolve thousand of years worth of religious tensions and do not look to any time soon. Please do not create topics focusing on exclusively religious or anti-religious subjects.
      • Please note that this does not include the general ideas of most holidays that have religious origins, eg. Christmas or Easter. They can have meanings for the non-religious as well.
  3. Disagreements will happen. Please make sure you are discussing the issue and not devolving into any of the actions covered in Rule #2. Please note that it is not the forum staff's responsibility to be tools to prove your point.
  4. Spam. We do not tolerate spamming threads on RSB, and very strictly enforce this via deletion of posts, warnings, and bans.
  5. The people that run RSB and the server it is hosted on are networking and programming geeks. We hate hackers. Do not advertise ways to get around any forum or Bravo Fleet hosted service; it is one of the guaranteed things that we will ban you for, then set fire to your user profile.
  6. The proper way to submit a proposal for fleet-wide changes is outlined in the Bravo Fleet Constitution and By-Laws, not via RSB.
  7. Please do not register or use multiple RSB accounts. If you need your account renamed, just PM the forum administrator.
  8. There are tools on the forum for you to use that are there to help the staff of RSB identify posts that may be violating rules laid out in this document, including reporting posts. Please use them responsibly.
    • RSB's staff reserves the right to revoke access to these tools or issue bans to users if used improperly.
  9. Relay Station Bravo's staff members consist of the following levels of users, with a flow of contact going from top to bottom:
    1. Moderators, tasked with:
      • Moderating assigned areas
      • Promoting usage of assigned areas
      • Closing and archiving old threads in assigned areas
      • Reacting to reported posts in assigned areas
    2. Super Moderators, tasked with:
      • Moderating all forums on an as-needed basis, including moving threads to appropriate sections of the forum
      • Moderating user profile issues
      • Acting as an escalation point of contact for all Moderators
    3. Administrators, tasked with:
      • Administration of all back-end and database issues
      • RSB policy decisions
      • Acting as an escalation point of contact for all Super Moderators
  10. The staff of RSB have the ability to act to a breach of these rules through their own discretion:
    • Informal public or private warnings
    • Editing or deletion of individual posts
    • Closing and/or archiving of entire threads
    • Formal private warning or issuing of a points-based infraction via the system laid out
    • Restricting access to features and areas of the forum
    • Temporary or permanent bans of user accounts or IP addresses
    • Any other reasonable action necessary to restore order to the forum
    1. Appeals of decisions made by staff members of RSB may be done via escalation points of contact for the forums privately.
    2. Appeals to decisions made by the Administrator can be sent to ops AT bravofleet DOT org.
Should you have any questions about these rules as they pertain to the management of the forum, you may email the forum administrator at the email address forum AT bravofleet DOT org for clarification.
